Went here for the all you can eat sushi lunch (Sept 4). This used to be a Chinese restaurant then turned into a sushi buffet, went back to Szechuan, and now back to a sushi buffet again. Overall the food was great, got two orders of sashimi which tasted really good and fresh. The only issue was the portion sizes!!! I believe they are still used to the Chinese restaurant side and giving out HUGE PORTIONS! Each individual orders 5 items at a time and since this is a buffet they need to portion the items to individual sizes!! My wife ordered 5 items and was overwhelmed on how much food they gave her. She ordered the vegetable chow mein and it was legitimately a FAMILY SIZED PORTION! An individual will get full easily or not even able to finish the portion size of the chow mein and not even be able to eat any other items on the menu.. A buffet should be small portions of each item so you can try multiple items and if you like something then you could always order the same item again. We understand that they are very new to this sushi buffet change and we politely gave the waitress advice on the portion sizes. She was very receptive to our suggestions and assured us we would not get charged extra if we weren’t able to finish the huge portion sizes they gave to each individual. Overall I really enjoyed the food and believe they are still working out the kinks and would be more careful on the portion sizes given for a buffet style restaurant. I would definitely go back and eat here again. Hopefully they fix the portion issues, it’s a buffet you can always ask for more! Sashimi for the win!

Just tried out Kigawa Sushi, the new all-you-can-eat sushi spot in San Ramon, and it was a delightful experience! I was in Dublin for business when a friend recommended this place, mentioning they had tried the older location in San Leandro and found it decent. So, we decided to give the new spot a shot. The AYCE menu offers two options: the regular at $29.99 per person and the special at $36.99 per person. Opting for the special menu gives you access to a variety of belly cuts of sashimi, which is definitely worth trying if you’re looking to get your money’s worth! The special menu has a limit of three items per person per round, with a choice of six items per round. My friend and I, being two females, went for four rounds. While there was a slight delay in serving during the fourth round, overall, the experience was pleasant. The sashimi was fresh, and the oysters were large and flavorful. They also offer some appetizers at the counter, which you can help yourself to while waiting for your order. The special appetizers, especially the oysters, were a highlight – plump and without any fishy taste, plus no stomach issues afterward! The salmon and hamachi carpaccio were also delicious, with a perfect balance of flavors. For sashimi, I particularly enjoyed the salmon belly and sweet shrimp. The toro was exceptional, melting in your mouth. If you’re worried about too much fat, try the hamachi and madai; the madai has a lovely sear, enhancing its aroma. In terms of nigiri, both the seared squid and squid ink gunkan were tasty, but I preferred the crunchy texture of the squid ink gunkan. Finally, the handrolls were filling, and my favorite was the Rock-N-Roll – eel and avocado, a fail-safe choice! Overall, Kigawa Sushi offers a great dining experience with fresh sushi and a variety of options. Highly recommended
