Eating my way around the world in Jacksonville, FL. Tried Kyodai Hibachi Grill in Orange Park on a Saturday night recently. There was wait but we were able to sit at the bar. Didn't get the entertainment value of watching food being cooked in front of us, but that was a decent trade for not having to wait. Went with the hibachi with scallops. Decent food and good size portion.

Got the meal for two,the food was just ok but the service from the server & the funny show from the chef were great and would be the reason I return.

First I am going to start by I have a standard when it comes to hibachi and I am not from Florida. I frequent the same location at home for at least 10 years and let’s say I am stuck in my ways. I know that I am typically disappointed when going to hibachi out of my state. However I attended with another person from the total opposite side of the US who shared the same disappointment as me. Service was good as far as server and chef go. Food was just ok. I am not sure of the ginger and whatever other sauce they provide. Where I come from it is yum yum sauce, this tasted like mayonnaise and ketchup together. Like Big Mac sauce. No thank you. The ginger tastes like it had a strong mix of soy or worcestershire sauce. Again… not good. The only thing put on the rice was salt and pepper, it was kind of bland. I do not think they should say vegetables come with the entree. It comes with mushrooms,onions and zucchini or cucumbers whatever it was. Where I come from it has broccoli, carrots and onions . The filet mignon was decent. Cooked to my liking, it would have been nice to have something to dip it in, but again the dips were not to our liking. My friend had the same feelings as I did and felt her shrimp were severely over cooked. She ordered a signature sangria, when she got it it looked like water with a lemon. She was confused at first to which was her water, the sangria I know is not typically a water or sprite color. Upon taste she felt it in fact tasted like nothing and sent it back. No point in spending $10-$12 on a drink with no taste. Overall we could have passed on this location. Add a picture of the drink menu as it is not currently on this page. I do want to apologize as we sat after for a while while I at least enjoyed the drink I had to not waste it like I did my meal, I meant to tip cash as it was not the servers fault and time got away from as. When we got up and already got to our location we did realize after we left that we did not leave the cash; I am truly sorry that is not the diner I am. I am giving a 3 star review, but am honestly in between a 2 and 3. The decent service gave them 3.
