This is a charming little spot in La Jolla with cozy vibes and plenty of outdoor seating. Unfortunately, our experience fell a bit short. We were seated outside on the sidewalk right next to the parking lot, which detracted from the ambiance. The service started off strong, but it took an uncomfortably long time to get our food. While the flavors were good, the fish wasn’t as fresh as I’d expect for sushi. The spicy tuna had some brown parts, and when I asked the server about it, they explained this can happen due to oxygen exposure during storage. However, after looking it up, I learned this can be a sign of lower-quality fish, though it's not a safety concern. I’m hesitant to return for these reasons, but with so many great reviews, I’m hopeful this was just an off day.

Really good, upscale restaurant. Good location, good service, portions are on the small side. The appetizer peppers were good, but one pepper was unexpectedly and extremely spicy — I hadn't had that pain from spicy food in a long time. The moment I bit into it, I knew... Good ambiance, but again, the portions were small. I went right after my last final of Fall 2024.
