UPDATE (in response to owner's response): This sad excuse for a response makes the situation 10x worse. What prompted me to write this review was the fact that I didn’t feel like I was being taken seriously on the two separate phone calls with staff. I was NEVER asked to bring the roll/worms into the restaurant. I was offered new food (mind you that was during the 5pm phone call I received from the “manager” after I initially reported this around 1:30pm and was told there would be no manager in that day) and I declined the food. Why would I want to eat more food made from the same contaminated prep space? The fact that you would allude to me being untruthful is honestly shocking. I had ONE intention and one intention only: to inform others about the risk of parasite exposure when eating food prepared at this establishment. And since you seem to be unfamiliar with your own product, the photo was taken with the parasite sitting on the faux greenery (in front of the white ginger on the side of the sushi tray) for contrast. They (the parasites) obviously blended into the golden color tempura sushi roll. My family and I have been customers of Miyako for over 13 YEARS. We’ve had good experiences and a few bad experiences, but this one by far has been the worst (and necessitated this review) and after spending THOUSANDS of dollars there over the years as a family, I think we will be finding somewhere else to spend our money. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I ordered a salad and a crab rangoon sushi roll (which does come tempura deep fried)... Halfway through eating I noticed what appeared to be a worm curled up on top of the sushi. I quickly looked up some common parasites in seafood and came across photos of "Anisakis". These absolutely look identical to Anisakis larvae (they seem to be coated probably from tempura fried with the roll). I called to explain it to the restaurant but they seemed less than concerned and told me my roll was fried. I realized my roll was fried, but I explained that if I was seeing worms (or larvae) on my food, that their entire workspace/sushi prep area is contaminated. They told me sorry, but the manager wasn't in today! I told them to have them call me and later in the day a manager did call me. He apologized, refunded my order, and offered to make me a new roll. I explained that I didn't want a new roll as there was an obvious health concern with the sushi! I hope they took me seriously. JUST BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU'RE EATING IF ORDERING RAW SUSHI! Inspect your food.

Had a great family dinner on Christmas Eve. Had a short wait past our reservation time. But, it was worth the wait. The food was great.

I really was looking forward to this but it was disappointing. Menu has vegetarian options but they feel like an afterthought, not authentic or very flavorful. Felt like I was getting kitchen scraps. Ordered vegetable tempura and it was only sweet potato, onion, and some sort of white squash. Was soggy and I had to re-crisp them up in the oven. I felt like there should’ve been mushrooms, tofu, peppers, asparagus, or lotus root, not just watery vegetables. I also ordered the vegetable roll with the mango, and the mango was completely unripe and crunchy so I had to remove it from each slice. Vegetable ramen unfortunately had no tofu which is pretty standard for vegetable ramen. Ramen noodles were overcooked and really mushy. Broth was okay and tasted like a mushroom broth maybe. Vegetables on top of vegetable ramen also felt like an afterthought and looked like veggie scraps from the restaurant. It was topped with some carrot, red onion, a couple pieces of broccoli, shredded lettuce?, the middle part of cucumbers, and 2 brown-speckled snow pea pods.
