Let me start this review with this, the woman that works the counter and took my order was very polite and friendly and the restaurant (clearly setup for a more to go service) was decorated nicely and was clean and orderly, the seating was abundant in spite of the limited area available. My reason for the 2 stars given. My reasoning for denying the remaining 3 stars is as follows: I ordered the hibachi filet w/no rice and would like lo mein instead understanding that I would have an "up charge" for this request , that's $14.99 for the hibachi and $2 for the "lo mein", I also ordered pan fried pork dumplings at $5.99 and I replied in the affirmative when asked if I would like a drink with my TO-GO order. I was given a small cup for the fountain drink machine and told "you may have free refills" which struck me as odd considering we had established that I was taking it to my house to eat, none the less a paid my $30.05 (giving the woman taking my order a $2 tip and putting my single dish w/dumpling appetizer at $28.05) without to much worry, I had done the four m foot work after finding this place, having taken the time to read the list recent reviews and taking them back several months, I felt I had little to worry about and however pricey it may have been it would be will spent money to satisfy the very specific craving I had been having over the last week or so. So after waiting extra time for my dumplings that hadn't been cooked while the rest of the meal had, so roughly an extra 10 minutes while the rest of the food got cold. I drive home and start to dig in and here's the list : dumplings =half cooked, the accompanying sauce =tasted like sugar and soy sauce (not the faintest hint of ginger) very sweet, the "filet" (thankfully they didn't have the nerve to include "mignon" in the title) was very much over cooked (ordered med rare) and very tough (making me question which cut of beef exactly are they calling "filet") also the portion size of the "protein" was small in comparison to the about of veg. It was on top of (which turned out to be a good thing because feeling that was the bulk of the money spent I was determined to eat every bit of it) and add it turned out had zero seasoning or flavor (that's what yum yum sauce is for right?). The "lo mein" that I was up charged $2 for (I actually called to let them know I knew this wasn't any way, shape, or form something that would EVER be called lol mein in any spot on this planet were lo mein is a dietary staple nor in 99.5 of the restaurants in the US that offer it on their menu) turned out to be over cooked/boiled spaghetti which is probably the one thing at the grocery store that costs less than rice! I also took noticed when going back over the online menu to see what I had been charged for each item, why I was given a small fountain drink cup, it seems that they only list two options for drinks $2.49 fountain drink (no size option even though there were more than one "small" size cups stacked next to the register) the other option being a selection of bottled drinks for $2.49, which obviously would be the practical choice for a to go order, unless your a shady business owner attempting to con your customer base by doing things like advertising and charging for lo mein but instead serving spaghetti, or pretending to serve filet mignon and asking filet mignon prices but serving stew beef instead, or charging $2.50 for a drink and handing the to go customer a child's sized cup because the profit margin is exponentially higher than giving them the beverage designed for travel. It just goes to show you that even though they are polite and smile in your face you better watch where their hands are at all times because of you don't they will surely find their way into your wallet. You've been warned, if they would do it to me (someone they've never seen before, was polite, and tipped and payed in cash) they will certainly do it to you.
